Terra Linda High School Celebrates National Computer Science Week, December 9-15

San Rafael, CA – During the week of December 9-15, 2019, Terra Linda High School (TLHS) celebrated Computer Science Education Week (CSEdWeek). CSEdWeek is an annual program dedicated to inspiring K-12 students to take interest in computer science. CSEdWeek is a grassroots campaign led by Code.org and supported by 350 partners along with 100,000 educators worldwide. CSEdWeek is celebrated in recognition of of the birthday of computing pioneer Admiral Grace Murray Hopper (December 9, 1906).

This week-long celebration was open to TLHS students and took place at lunch in the school’s new Innovation Hub, which was recently completed using Measure B funds. For the past 5 years, the student-led Innovation Lab and TLHS computer science teachers have partnered to host this celebration and increase awareness of computer science and tech industry opportunities available to students. XR Marin sponsored the week-long celebration and also showcased student projects created in our Fall 2019 XR Marin AR Student Academy at each lunchtime event.

On December 12, XR Marin and Enklu teamed up to sponsor the Industry Insight Lecture Series, featuring Heather Gallagher, Vice President of Product, and Jose Rosero, Community Manager at Enklu. Enklu transforms traditional venues into AR experience centers using immersive technology. XR Marin is a program of the Marin County Office of Education that offers classes in Augmented Reality, Virtual Reality, and Immersive Storytelling.
